Muscovy Duck Colors
Chocolate is pretty straight forward.
Muscovy duck colors. White can also mask other colors so white bred to colored birds can produce colors as well as pieds. Such as black blue bronze chocolate lavender pied white with any color mixed ripple white and many more pastel colors but these are very rare. All other colors are a combination of or form of the previous colors.
Chocolate comes in many shades of brown. Base colors are determined by those colors which can be expressed as a single unique genetic marker which has a pre determined effect on pigmentation. But the muscovy breed can hold many genes which results in gorgeous colors in some offspring.
There are many color varieties of the domesticated muscovy duck. This isn t a particularly good duck as she has a lot of white feathers. Muscovy ducks are recognized in black blue white and chocolate.
This is a chocolate duck. Some will have a colored cap on their heads referred to as french whites. These are mainly raised as meat ducks as the white feathers allow the to dress clean.
This is a black drake showing the normal green sheen. White is another common muscovy color.
